The Signature Course at English Turn was originally designed in 1988 for the New Orleans PGA Tour event. The inaugural event was the USF & G Classic in 1989 and the course proved to be a challenge for the PGA Tour with notoriously undulating greens, water in play on seventeen of the eighteen holes and the signature fifteenth Island Green. The 18th Hole had been ranked the hardest hole on tour many times during the tournament tenure.

NOLA is probably not the first place you think of for a golf destination, but if you need to play there, go to English Turn. We played there during a bachelor weekend in NOLA, they have good practice facilities. It was hot and humid that day, but the play was fast. Starter was friendly & entertaining. No GPS on carts. We would've finished in under 4 hours if not for a 30-45 thunderstorm. However, conditions were generally pretty good. Not a fan of the numerous grass bunkers guarding already very small greens. Greens are fast. The island green on 15(?) was a fun challenge, and there are water hazards in play on most holes, so bring extra balls. After the round, I got to the bar after which had unfortunately already closed. Kevin the bartender took pity on my rain-soaked self and made me a drink as long as I was ok paying cash. My 2 friends came and he made us all a nice strong Hurricane. The cup was probably 20 oz. His hospitality was truly memorable. The locker room has showers, as it was originally built to be a private club. THEY ALSO HAVE A STEAM & SAUNA! STEAM AND SAUNA?!?! Yes. Steam & sauna. So bring an extra change of clothes, enjoy your fast round, have a hurricane made by Kevin, then melt away in the steam room. Any questions?
